This is a serious question, because I don't understand how Snapchat could be worth $20-25 billion. Since there are far smarter people here than me, I figured I would ask the Troll community.

If I am a regular investor, why would I buy Snapchat at the IPO? How do I make money? The CEO says the company may never be profitable. If that is the case, what makes this company so valuable?

I think it might be a captive audience, therefore advertising...??

I'm not buying in. I don't see the value either.

Warren Buffett said it best. If it doesn't have value don't buy it.

Go long on ExxonMobil or AT&T. Permian Basin shale is ramping up and Exxon is going in big time.

I think value means "asking price when Google comes knocking" in this case.

The problem with teenagers is that it's really hard to monetize them. Sure, one day teenagers become adults with income, but who knows what other social media app hotter than Snapchat will come along and leave Snapchat in the dust.

Tech IPOs are always speculative. Tread with caution

If Snapchat is worth 35 billion,
