None of the three co-writers of Sweet Home Alabama were from Alabama.

Very sad about the death. But the thread title keeps making me laugh. :(

Well fuck then, in that case it sounds like we should start importing them by the thousands into the U.S.

Of my all time favorite bands, Skynnrd is in my top 5. Maybe even top 3. I too however skip over their songs that come up on 70's streaming channels and that fact saddens me. I think it was the church mass murder scene in The Kingsmen (Free Bird guitar solo) that ruined it for me.

This guy sang it and got blown away too.

Duets was a really underated movie.

Just stop.

lol, raised my eyebrows too. George Strait came to mind and then and then. Well maybe they really cull the jewels
from that lost era

Fucking pop-country-rock horseshit they pass off as country music is unlistenable.

I'll have to check out that clint black. Haggard's best stuff was NOT done in the late 70's and 80's. 80's?
He just kept getting better from the late sixties up to that point.

Never heard Shooter. thought he was just a bit actor. I'll give a listen just in case.

Hank jr...I loved his stuff for years then got tired of songs about being hank's son sucking.
III HELL YEAH

I did like a thousand miles from nowhere, love's mad a man of me, (Gary allan?) and "back where i come from)

Takes a lot of sifting to find the nuggets though

The deceased was a self described "California hippy" who got tired of Ronnie v. dogging him all the time.

Maybe it was because he used to buy hundreds of slim jims and then sell them to the guys while on the
road at a 300-percent mark up.

whatever. dude kicked ass. He was also the one counting off at the beginning of SHA

started off okay, turned into a whimpy voiced bio of his dad. yawn.

I probably wrote the best song about the demise of country music.

Couple of things here. Neil Young and Ronnie Van Zant were actually friends. Van Zant often wore Neil Young shirts while performing.

I think with Kings passing, the only surviving original member of Skynyrd is Gary Rosington.
