refresh my memory...how does in & out stack up against red Robbin and Fudd Ruckers?
I’m always a bit squeamish about hamburgers whose "toppings" are not all on top, as is the case here. Not sweating the technique, I am pleased as always with the experience. The hot 100 percent pure-beef is divine, perfectly cooked to give just a hint of the grill. The veggies are not only fresh, they taste it, bursting in your mouth with crispness and flavor. You can see the crew leafing fresh lettuce and slicing onions FROM THE DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW. You could even see the entire process of French Fries-making too. you could see the crew peeling the potatoes, cutting them to fries, soaking the uncooked fries in water for a while and finally deep frying them, draining the oil, blah blah blah….
A light dressing of secret sauce gives just a hint of tang, blending greatly with the freshly baked buns. Not oversized, the burgers fit perfectly in your hand and can be neatly devoured in a few bites. yes they are a little overrated and dont stack up to Fudd Ruckers or even carls Jr $6.00 burger, but for $5.00 you can get a double double, fries AND a drink.
They also give you a PLACEMAT to set on the seat of your car to catch any grease drippings that might escape.
I highly recommend going there and order directly off the menu a double double WITH NO CHANGES. you need a baseline for your next trip. then research the secret menu http://www.badmouth.net/in-n-outs-secret-menu/
and go that route.
My go to Double Double, 'Animal Style" raw onions, well done fries
